Obituary of Carolyn A. Marconi
Carolyn A. Marconi, 93, of Warren, and formerly a longtime Chatham resident, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Known to family and friends as Lily, she was born in Madison and raised by Pasquale and Anna Romano. After her marriage to the late Nicholas Marconi, they moved to Chatham, where they lived for 57 years and as a devoted homemaker she lovingly raised five children.
Lily was celebrated as an outstanding Italian cook and baker, and she delighted in crafts, sewing, cross-stitch, and family game nights of Dominos and card games. A true Bingo enthusiast, she enjoyed walking, and she cherished reading the next Danielle Steel novel. Her faith and community meant everything to her; she was a devoted and active parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church in Chatham and a dedicated volunteer at St. Patrick School. In service to the church and school, she held many roles over the years, including President of the Mothers’ Guild, a classroom aide, a Eucharistic Minister, and president and member of the Rosary Society.
Beyond the bounds of church and school, Lily also served as president of The Senior Club of the Chathams and worked as a receptionist and substitute teacher at Rainbow Montessori School in Madison. Her warmth, generosity, and steady presence touched countless lives, and she will be remembered for her kindness, her boundless hospitality, and the countless ways she supported family and friends.
Carolyn is the sole remaining family member of 9 Romano siblings. She is survived by her children, Joseph and his wife, Kathleen; Michael and his wife, Ellen; Maria Marconi; Carolanne Patetta and husband, Joseph; and Christine Yarwood and husband, Craig; ten grandchildren Kristin (Marconi) Carlone and her husband Nicholas, Matthew Marconi, Jacqueline (Marconi) Testi and her husband Matt; James Marconi and wife Marissa; David Marconi and wife, Amanda; Lauren, Nicholas, and Jake Patetta; and Caila and Camryn Yarwood; and four great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation for Carolyn on Friday, January 23, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison.
Funeral services will begin at the funeral home at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2026 followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at St. Vincent Martyr Church, 26 Green Village Road, Madison. For those who are unable to attend the mass in person, please visit www.svmnj.org/livestream-mass
Interment will follow at St. Vincent’s Cemetery in Madison.
In lieu of flowers, Carolyn’s family has kindly requested that charitable contributions be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
A peaceful, faithful life has ended, but Lily’s legacy—her love of family, faith, and community—will endure in all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace.
