Obituary of Gengyun Chen

Gengyun Chen, of Madison, died peacefully at Morristown Medical Center on Tuesday, February 14, 2023. He was 80.

Gengyun is survived by his beloved wife, Ruimin Guo of Madison, his daughter, Qing Chen and her husband Jing Wu and their children Karen and William Wu.

Gengyun was born in Tianjin, China on August 11, 1942. He was a teacher for many years prior to his retirement.  Outside of work, he was talented in arts and craftsmanship. He spent much of his free time as a calligrapher and a carpenter, making calligraphy artworks and handcrafted furniture.

Gengyun was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  He met his beloved wife Ruimin in 1968 and they were married for 50 years. Together, they raised their daughter, Qing, whom they loved and cherished deeply. Gengyun and his wife Ruimin relocated to the United States several years ago to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren.

Gengyun was a wonderful father and grandfather, a constant source of support and guidance for his family, and his love and kindness will live on in their hearts forever.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visitation on Saturday, February 18, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison, followed by a 4:00 PM funeral service.

Cremation services will be held privately for the family.
