Obituary of Marie P. Sherry

Marie P. Sherry (née Spellman), of Madison and formerly of Sunnyside, Queens, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 3, 2023, surrounded by the love of her family. She was 92.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Bernadette Sherry, and her beloved grandson, Colin Sherry.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents and her cherished son, Edmond Sherry.

Marie was born in Manhattan, NY on August 20, 1930, to the late Patrick and Bridie Spellman (née Ryan). She grew up in Manhattan and resided in Sunnyside, Queens for 50 years before moving to New Jersey to be closer to her family.

Marie graduated from The Dominican Academy in upstate New York and had a fulfilling career as a textiles sales representative for Johnson Industries in New York City. She was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Teresa's Roman Catholic Church in Sunnyside.

Marie enjoyed traveling to many places, especially Italy and Ireland. She also liked volunteering at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan, giving out holy communion and refreshments to the patients.

Marie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her family takes great comfort in knowing she is with the Lord and her beloved son once again.

Services for Marie are being held privately for her family under the care of the Madison Memorial Home.

Marie will be laid to rest with her parents at St. John’s Cemetery in Middle Village, NY.
