Obituary of Edward Degnan
Edward Paul Degnan, of Morristown, formerly a longtime resident of Budd Lake, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Spring Hill Assisted Living in Morristown. He was 83.
Edward is survived by his two daughters, Dawn Van Dooijeweert and her husband Willem & Denise Degnan; one brother Donald Palumbo and his wife Kathleen; six cherished grandchildren, Kara, Brian, Erika, Cheyanne, Ryleigh & Leland; and his best buddy since childhood Gordon Laflesh and his wife Claire, who was like another brother in his mind.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Albert Degnan, Joseph Palumbo & Larry Palumbo.
Edward was born in Newark, NJ on September 22, 1940, and grew up in Montville with his four brothers. He was a graduate of Montville High School and after graduation Edward enlisted in the United States Army. After being honorably discharged from the Army Edward settled in Parsippany and then Budd Lake where he raised his daughters.
Edward had a long and dedicated career with the United States Postal Service in Pine Brook for several decades, before his retirement. He loved sports, especially golf, tennis, and softball. Ed also loved yearly golf trips to Myrtle Beach and travelling to visit family in Germany.
Edward loved his family deeply and was very proud of his daughters and six grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew him.
Funeral services for Edward are being held privately for his family and are under the direction of the Madison Memorial Home.
