Obituary of Gloria M. Niec

Gloria M. Niec, age 91, of Madison, NJ passed away Wednesday morning February 28, 2024, peacefully in her home.

She was born February 25, 1933, in the country Spain, which always carried a special place in her heart. She met and married Alfred J. Niec in Madrid, Spain in the mid 1950’s when he was working as an American civil engineer helping to rebuild roads and bridges throughout European countries ravaged by WWII.

They had a daughter born in Madrid on November 28, 1955, and Gloria and her infant daughter traveled to the United States in early 1956. New Jersey became her new home and she and her husband, Al, moved into their Madison home in 1967.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband who passed away in 1993.

She is survived by two daughters, Gloria and Theresa; her son, Carlos; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She is also survived by her younger sister Antonita who still resides in Madrid, Spain, and an extended Spanish family.

Her two passions were cooking and traveling. She was happiest planning elaborate meals and delighting family and friends with delectable dishes.

A memorial service will be announced for Gloria at a later date.
