Obituary of Nancy Jean Croessmann
Nancy Jean Croessmann, a longtime Madison resident, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at her home on Dogwood Drive. She was 77.
Nancy was born in Springfield, Illinois, on February 13, 1947, to Loren and Betty Lue Teel. She graduated from Du Quoin (IL) High School, where she met her future husband, Allen. Nancy went on to earn her bachelor's degree from MacMurray College and, later, a Master of Science degree in Education from Southern Illinois University. She also completed post-master's work at Kean University.
Nancy and Allen Croessmann were married on April 20, 1969, and settled in Madison in 1975 after living for several years in California and Massachusetts. In Madison, they raised their two children, Ross and Alison. Nancy taught special education for over 30 years, mainly within the Madison school system. She retired in 2012.
She was an avid reader, loved the theater, and enjoyed spending early fall days at the Jersey Shore and Delaware beaches. She was devoted to her many friends (both human and canine) and adored her five grandchildren. Nancy was kind and generous, loved to laugh, and reveled in celebrations for family and friends. She never forgot her Midwestern roots.
Nancy is survived by her husband Allen; son Ross and his wife Jen (Andrews); daughter Alison Croessmann Schrag and her husband Ben; brother Brian Teel and family; and grandchildren, Drew, Paige, Spencer, Jackson and Nate.
A celebration of Nancy's life will be held on March 28 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the home of Ross and Jen Croessmann, 4 Myrtle Avenue, Florham Park.
In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made in Nancy's memory to Red Bank Veterinary Hospital, Madison Animal Hospital, The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey and Paper Mill Playhouse.
