Obituary of Domenica N. Iossa

Domenica N. Iossa (Esposito), also known as Mimi by her friends, a longtime resident Florham Park, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 surrounded by the love of her family. She was 69.

Domenica is survived by her son, Phil Iossa and his wife Lauren of Florham Park; her daughter, Elvira Green and her husband Ryan of Florham Park; brother, John Esposito and Maria; sister-in-law, Palma Bassolino and Sal; sister in law, Maria Esposito; her five cherished grandchildren, Xena, Gianna, Frankie, Mason and Valentina; and many loving extended family members and dear friends.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 49 years, Frank Iossa in 2022; one brother, Frank Esposito; and one sister, Anna Marie Loiudice.

Domenica was born on June 15, 1954 to the late Antonio and Giuseppina Esposito in Roccarainola, a small town located in Naples, Italy. She was raised with her three siblings in a loving and hardworking Italian family. Domenica moved to Milan as a young woman where she lived before emigrating to Summit, NJ in 1970.

She and her husband Frank met in Summit, both new to the United States and were inseparable from then on. After they were married, Domenica and Frank settled in Madison and then moved to Florham Park, where they made a home filled with love, laughter, and the aroma of Domenica’s delicious cooking. Domenica was a wonderful mother whose life revolved around her family.

Domenica adored her grandchildren and went to great lengths to make sure the family had a loving, warm home and plenty to eat. She did not do this just during the holidays, but every day. Domenica was a fantastic cook and possessed vast knowledge of old-world Italian cuisine. She truly expressed her love and admiration for her family and friends through her cooking, baking and hospitality. Domenica’s meatballs, eggplant and cutlets were just a few of her signature fantastic dishes and were cherished by all who were fortunate enough to taste them.

Domenica was also a woman of profound faith in the Lord, which combined with her devotion and love for her family, kept her strong during the most difficult of times throughout her long and valiant and courageous battle with cancer. Yet through it all, Domenica’s strength never wavered. Everything Domenica did in life, she did with her family in mind.

After her two children were grown, Domenica worked at CVS in Florham Park where she became a familiar face for over a decade. She took on multiple roles at CVS because of her dedication and dependability. She retired from CVS once her grandchildren were born to take on her most cherished profession as Nonna.

Domenica’s best memories in life were made with her grandchildren, especially spending the summers with them at the beach at Wildwood Crest. She always felt blessed that she was able to help raise them and was able to be a large part of their lives.

Domenica also enjoyed gardening at her home in Florham Park. She possessed a natural talent for growing flowers and vegetables.

Although Domenica has left us, her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who were touched by her kindness, her warmth, and her unwavering love. We all take solace in knowing she is at peace with the Lord and has been reunited with her beloved Frank. May she Rest in Peace.
