Obituary of Antoinette M. Sodano

Antoinette Marie Sodano (née Cerciello), a longtime Florham Park resident, entered into eternal rest at her home on Monday, June 17, 2024. Her loving family was by her side. She was 91.

Antoinette loved the Lord and she had a special zest for life. She was a wonderful mother, loving grandmother and aunt, and a loyal friend. Faith and family were truly the foundation of Antoinette’s life.

Antoinette is survived by her two devoted children, David Sodano and Mary Jo Sodano and her cherished granddaughter, Amy Sodano; one sister, Ann Marie Cerciello; several loving nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews; and many dear friends and her church family.

In addition to her parents, Antoinette was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph G. Sodano in 2014; and her two brothers, Vincent Cerciello & Sebastian “Sonny” Cerciello.

Antoinette was born in Madison on April 26, 1933 to the late Lawrence and Theresa Cerciello. She was raised in Madison with her sister and two brothers and was a graduate of Madison High School. After high school she furthered her education at the College of St. Elizabeth in Convent Station.

After Antoniette and Joseph were married, they settled in Florham Park in 1957 where they raised their family. Antoinette formed many lifelong friendships in Florham Park and Madison and met once a month for over 55 years with her “Club” of friends to play cards, socialize and enjoy each other’s company.

Antoniette lived a faith-filled, prayer-filled life and was devout Catholic. She was an active parishioner of Holy Family Church since shortly after the church was established. Antoinette was a member of the Holy Rosary Society, as well as being a regular volunteer at church activities and attending countless bible study groups over the years.

Antoinette was a 3rd Order Carmelite and active volunteer at the Carmelite Monastery in Morristown. She also volunteered at St. Anne’s Villa in Florham Park in addition to the countless other good deeds too numerous to mention that she did to help people throughout her life.

Antoinette’s family wishes to offer their heartfelt thanks to Jeana and Nana and all of Mommy’s  devoted caregivers who through the years gave such good and loving care to her which greatly improved her quality of life over the past several years.

Although she will be deeply missed, we all take great solace in knowing that Antoinette is at peace and her soul is in the loving embrace of the Good Lord.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial for Antoniette which will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at Holy Family Church, 1 Lloyd Avenue, Florham Park.

Interment will follow at St. Vincent’s Cemetery, Madison.

In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made in Antoinette’s memory to The Discalced Carmelites of Morristown, 189 Madison Avenue, Morristown, NJ 07960 or Holy Family Parish, 1 Lloyd Avenue, Florham Park, NJ 07932.

Thank you.
