Obituary of Joyce Wang

Joyce Wang, of Haddonfield, NJ, passed away peacefully at home after a courageous battle with breast cancer on Monday, August 5, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family. She was 35 years old.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Greg Ragusa; her 21-month-old daughter, Hannah Ragusa; her brother, Daniel Wang and his wife Tania; her father, Eugene Wang, as well as many close family members and friends.

Joyce’s beautiful soul projected light, humor, and positivity everywhere she went. She made everyone’s lives better who were lucky enough to know her. She was a genuine and selfless individual who loved doing and seeing all acts of kindness, big or small. She truly saw the good in everyone and believed in having a sense of community wherever she went. She maintained her unwavering Christian faith and trusted God at every step of her cancer journey, even amidst a constant and endless barrage of bad news from doctors and physical pain.

Joyce was a natural born caregiver with an enormous heart. She previously worked as a nurse’s aide at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii and North Shore University Hospital in Long Island, NY.

Joyce strived to live a simple life with a quiet place to call home for her small family. She lived for her husband, Greg, and daughter, Hannah. She was often lighthearted, fun, and even silly (her dance moves were hilarious). She maintained her sense of humor even in her last days while enduring pain from her cancer’s spread – she continued to do a shoulder shrug dance in her bed and asked her family members for “ice ice baby” when requesting ice packs to ease her head/body pains. She also had an amazing singing voice which she modestly didn’t showcase often. Joyce fortunately imparted her love of music and singing in her daughter Hannah, who treats everyone to her daily singing as well.

While Joyce was indeed a fun-loving woman, she was also a highly intelligent, wholesome person and was the definition of “down to earth.” She instantly made others feel connected and at ease in her presence. Joyce brought out the best in those around her, even if she didn’t realize this trait of hers (she was also the epitome of humble). She was always willing to help others in need by any means that she could. Whomever she’d speak with had her full attention as she listened to others with compassion, remembering every detail.

Joyce loved her time living in Hawaii with her husband, Greg. She was an avid hiker and beach go-er who was drawn to natural beauty in the world. Joyce treasured the sense of community found in Hawaii during her time living there and that strangers would often come together to aid each other, looking for nothing in return. She loved when people selflessly helped each other out during difficult times.

Joyce had a special connection with nature and loved walking in the early morning hours. She felt that the quiet peace and serenity of the early morning hours was a special time that brought her closer to God’s presence. Joyce also had a special place in her heart for dogs and supported several animal rights organizations.

Although her family and friends mourn the loss of this incredible young woman, her legacy lives on in her daughter and in all the good she had done in this world. May Joyce rest in peace.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a memorial visitation for Joyce on Friday, August 9, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a memorial service held at 6:00 p.m. at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison.
