Obituary of George L. Mahr, Esq.

George L Mahr Esq., 90, of Chatham Township, died peacefully of natural causes after a long and fulfilling life. He died Sunday, September 15, 2024 with his family by his side. 

George was a respected attorney in Madison where he practiced law at Mahr and Mahr with his son until he retired. Prior, George had a long and healthy career in law serving with other firms and the SEC.

He was born in Newark, NJ on July 10, 1934 to Carol and Lester Mahr where he was raised with his brother and sister. He graduated  from Weequahic High School and furthered his education at Colgate University where he earned his bachelor degree, followed by his law degree from New York University.

George filled his life with family and friends and making memories. He loved sharing stories and talking about what so influenced him in life. George was an avid sportsman who enjoyed fishing, bird hunting and training his hunting dog. He loved and played sports, and enjoyed coaching. He was a role model that made a difference in many young peoples' lives.

George is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Jane Mahr; brother Dr. Robert Mahr; his children Marguerite (Marci) Drobish and husband Kip, George L. (Geordy)Mahr III,  Debbie Murphy, Bill Toth and his wife Jennifer. George loved and cherished his grandchildren Liam, Daniel and Colin Mahr, Kolibri (Bri) Drobish, Terrence and Stephen Murphy and William, Alison and Victoria Toth.  

He was predeceased by his parents; and his sister, Carol Fernandez.

George filled our hearts with love, silly songs, stories and philosophies about life.  He will be truly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services for George will be held privately for the family.
