Obituary of Mario LoSapio

Mario LoSapio, a longtime Madison resident, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at the age of 94.

Mario is survived by his two daughters, Filomena Glodzik and her husband, John & Nancy LoSapio; two cherished granddaughters, Maria Glodzik & Kaitlyn Glodzik; one brother, Armando LoSapio; one sister, Concetta Aliperti; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

Mario lost his beloved wife, Maria Immacolata LoSapio with her passing in 2017, though he never stopped speaking of her. He was also predeceased by two brothers, Luigi LoSapio & Antonio LoSapio; and one sister, Carmella Allocca.

Mario was born to Carmine and Annunziata LoSapio in Somma Vesuviana, Italy where he was raised with his five siblings.

Mario and Maria were married in 1954 and shortly after they emigrated to the United States and settled in Madison, where many of their extended family members and friends had also relocated to from Italy. Mario embraced his new life in America but kept his Italian traditions and values. Mario and Maria had a most special marriage. His love for Maria had no bounds and they were the essential couple.

The young family first lived on Keep Street and eventually moved to North Street where Mario and Maria raised their two daughters, Filomena and Nancy. He taught his children to live life completely and joyfully.

Family and faith were deeply important to Mario and his family meant everything to him. He was a devoted husband, and a wonderful father and grandfather. Mario was always concerned about the well-being of others and he was a loyal friend.

Mario enjoyed spending time outside gardening and playing bocce with many of his friends. He had a garden so he and Maria could grow their own vegetables, and the aroma from the kitchen brought you back to Italy.

Mario had an extensive career with PSE&G before retiring. He was a heavy machinery operator and took great pride in his work.

Mario had a wonderful life filled with family and love. He will be deeply missed, but always lovingly remembered.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visitation for Mario to be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison.
