Obituary of Guy P. Garrubbo

Guy Philip Garrubbo, of Far Hills, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, January 2, 2025. He was 62.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 18 years, Tricia Garrubbo (née O’Brien); his cherished children, Guy Jr., Jillian, Chloe, and Siena Garrubbo; his treasured parents, Guy Garrubbo and Patricia Blasi, one brother, Gary Garrubbo; and many extended family members and dear friends.

Guy was born in East Orange on June 23, 1962, and grew up in North Caldwell. A true self-starter, Guy had ample ideas and motivation for business ventures at an early age. By age 12, he had his own lawn mower business and at age 18 he turned his love of fast cars into a business called Auto Search where he bought, sold, and rebuilt cars. In the 1980s Guy invented the first chip clip which he called the “Stay Crisp.” His ambition eventually led him into the world of home building and remodeling where he went on to start his business Garrubbo Properties in Cedar Grove. Among his vast array of projects were a five-home complex in Verona and a 24-unit apartment complex in Cedar Grove. Guy was very intelligent and confident, and he always saw his ideas through.

As driven and ambitious as Guy was in the world of business, his favorite role was that of husband and father. Guy met his beloved wife Tricia at a wine bar in New York City. The inseparable couple married on November 15, 2006, and recently moved to Far Hills in 2022. Guy’s family meant the world to him and anything he did was for them. He had a deep love of sports cars and music. He always drove fast and enjoyed going on scenic rides with his family. Guy was truly one of a kind; he was outspoken, could make anyone around him laugh, and commanded attention with his radiant energy and presence. His family will forever miss him and his love, but they take comfort in knowing he is at peace.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated for Guy on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Church of Christ the King, 16 Blue Mill Rd, New Vernon, NJ 07976. Those who are unable to attend the mass in person may attend virtually by using this link.

Guy will be laid to rest immediately following the mass at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, Basking Ridge.

In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made in Guy’s memory to the Republican National Committee at www.gop.com/donate.
