Retired software analyst and Air Force veteran, of Madison
James Shindle of Madison, N.J., died on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015, at his home. He was 71 years old. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral on Monday, Nov. 2, at 9 a.m. from the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main St., Madison, with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent Martyr Church, 26 Green Village Rd., Madison. Visitation is on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. Cremation will be private. Jim was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and grew up in Clifton, N.J. He served six years in the U.S. Air Force from 1962 to 1966 as a jet engine mechanic. Jim worked as a software analyst consultant and retired in 2007. He is survived by his wife, Elaine (nee Dixon); a son, Michael and his wife, Lisa, and his two beautiful grandchildren, Peter and Kristen. Jim was predeceased by his son, Jeffrey. He and Elaine married in October 1968. They lived in Madison for 44 years. Jim was very proud of his son, Michael, for all of his many years of education, time and dedication in becoming an orthopedic surgeon. He also enjoyed being with Mike through the years watching him play ice hockey, roadtrips to games and camps - a true passion for both of them. Jim and Elaine truly enjoyed going on cruises. They sailed on many cruises through the years with their good friends.
