Obituary of Robert Chapman

Robert Maxwell Chapman WWII veteran and owner of Hillside dairy farm business, lived in Florham Park and retired to the Shore, 89 Robert Maxwell Chapman of Spring Lake Heights, N.J., formerly of Florham Park, N.J., died on Monday, Dec. 7, 2015, in the Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, N.J.; he was 89 years old. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral on Saturday, Dec. 12, at 9 a.m. from the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main St., Madison, N.J., with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church in Florham Park, N.J. Cremation will be private. Visitation is Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mr. Chapman was born in Newark, N.J., and had lived in Hillside, N.J., and Florham Park before moving to Spring Lake Heights 32 years ago. He was owner-operator of Chapman Dairy Farm in Hillside for many years, retiring in 1987. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a past member of the Elks Club in Florham Park and a head coach of the Colonial Baseball League in Florham Park. He was a member of the American Legion in Manasquan, N.J., and an usher at St. Catherine's Church, Spring Lake. He also belonged to the Spring Lake Country Club and was an avid Boston Red Sox and Giants fan. He is survived by his children, Robert Philip Chapman and his wife, Cheryl, and Kim Daniel Chapman and his wife, Patty; his sister, Alicia Chapman; his three grandchildren, Amy , Emily and Matthew, and one great-grandchild, Chase, and his devoted companion, Anita Healy. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Florham Park P.B.A. Local 78, in his memory, would be appreciated.
