Obituary of Faith Carol

Faith Carol Blethen AGE: 83 • Denville Faith Blethen, 83, passed on into the arms of Our Lord on October 7, 2016 in Denville surrounded by her loving family and friends following a long illness. Born to Faith (Markham) and Perry Eslick in Jersey City, NJ on Dec. 26, 1932. She resided in Hillside, NJ before she moved with her husband to their first and only home in Denville in 1953. After receiving her degree from Morris County College she continued her education in the pursuit of a teaching degree at Kean University. While raising three children, Faith worked for a Temporary Employment Agency and was often asked to stay on for years at a time as a result of her competency, dependability and her very relatable personality. In 1964 Faith became the family genealogy researcher. This hobby fueled her desire to preserve, protect and share family history. As a result of this passion she became a member of the Cornish Heritage Society East in Wharton, NJ, the Bangor Historical Society in Bangor, PA, Pike County Historical Society in Milford, PA and the Mennonite Heritage Center in Harleysville, PA. In her early days as a Denville resident she assisted in the editing and publishing of the local Beacon Hill Newsletter and participated in many Boy Scout volunteer activities. Most recently as an avid and active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Dover, NJ, she served as a Sunday school teacher, a food service worker and a mission outreach volunteer who knitted countless mittens to warm the hands of children overseas. She also had a natural talent to restore and repurpose discarded items. Faith enjoyed reading books. She was intelligent, kind and very loyal to others. Faith appreciated the puns that arose from her name. Truth be told, Faith touched the lives of many and provided strength to them in their time of need. Faith was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Charles Edward Blethen (2013) and her son Charles Derek Blethen (2006). She is survived and was always the proud mother of Mark Randall Blethen of Clinton, Washington and Kerri Yezuita and husband, Tony of Vernon NJ. She was cherished by six grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She derived great joy from spending time with her daughter-like friend Beth Anne Jelinek and husband Hank and their daughters Lauren and Annelise whom she considered as grandchildren. We place our Faith in God's loving hands. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 15th at 10a.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church, 123 E. Blackwell St., Dover. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church earmarked, Sunday school funds.
