Obituary of Carmine Della Vecchia
Carmine Della Vecchia, a long-time Parsippany resident, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Care One in Morristown. He was 87.
Born in Morristown, Carmine was raised in Madison. After his honorable service in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War, he and his beloved wife, Marjorie Della Vecchia, moved to Denville, then to Parsippany where they have lived since. He and his wife also enjoyed spending winters at their home in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
Carmine was an avid car collector and auto enthusiast. His life-long interest in automobiles made his career choice an easy one. In 1960, he founded his own auto dealership, C&M Motors, a Nissan dealership in Denville. He was a pioneer in auto sales, as this era was the early start of any imported vehicles being sold in the US market. He retired in 1992.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clementine and Matthew Della Vecchia, Sr., and his brother, Matthew Della Vecchia, Jr. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Marjorie Della Vecchia (nee Nechwort); his two daughters, Linda Smith of Parsippany, and her husband Charles, and Debbie Della Vecchia of Bath, PA; three grandchildren, Laura, Michael, and Brittany; and two great-grandchildren, Julian and Bela.
Funeral services are being held privately and are under the direction of the Madison Memorial Home. To share a memory, photograph or online condolence with Carmine’s family, please visit www.madisonmemorialhome.com
