Obituary of John Aselin Cassidy
John Aselin Cassidy, of Madison, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at the age of 66. John will continue to live on with wonderful stories and memories he made with his family and friends.
Born in Rochester, NY to the late Joseph and Elizabeth Cassidy, John was raised in Convent Station before moving to Madison in 1976. He has been passionate about his career as an electrician for his entire life. John was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union, Local# 102 of Parsippany for 40 years, before his retirement. John took great pride in his home, which he enjoyed maintaining. He was also interested in photography, in addition to numerous other hobbies. He especially loved spending time with his family.
John leaves behind his beloved wife of 30 years, Valerie Cassidy (nee Manger); two daughters, Elizabeth Cassidy and Jill Strelec (Robert), both of Madison; three brothers, Joseph Cassidy of Green Village (Cynthia), James Cassidy of Madison (Pamela), and Thomas Cassidy of Morris Plains; four sisters, Noël Keller of Madison, Mary Jo Henderson of Florham Park, Madeleine Cuskaden of Green Village, and Jeannie Gill of Madison (Stephen); two cherished grandchildren, Sydney and Jason; many loving nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, and many good friends.
In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by one sister, Elizabeth “Cissy” Donohue.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to celebrate John’s life held on Friday, August 25, 2017 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison. All may gather at the funeral home on Saturday at 9AM to pay final respects to John prior to interment at Holy Rood Cemetery, Morristown.
