Obituary of Thomas De Sena, Sr.

Thomas De Sena, Sr., a longtime Morristown resident, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at his home in Port St. Lucie, FL. He was 92.

Thomas leaves behind his son, Thomas De Sena, Jr. and his wife Kathleen; his daughter, Diane De Sena; his brother, Paul De Sena; his two sisters, Tina Chiarolanzio & Nancy Chiarolanzio; three grandchildren, Carrie Ann Baressi, Thomas De Sena III & Jamie Leigh De Sena; three great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Sarah Kate & Madelyn; many cousins, nieces, nephews and good friends. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 64 years, June C. De Sena (nee Gerard); his daughter, Linda Barrett (nee De Sena); and his brother, Anthony De Sena.

Thomas was born and raised in Madison. It was there along with his father and brothers, maintained greenhouses and harvested roses for local merchants.  He raised his young family in a beautiful home located in Normandy Heights and then in the 1980's relocated to Morristown.  He also had a passion for the sunny state of Florida, where he purchased his winter residence in Port St. Lucie.  He was an avid golfer, dedicated Met and Giants fan, enjoyed playing cards with his many good friends and was always up to date on current affairs and sporting statistics.

Before his retirement, Thomas was a dental technician.  He was a master technician who designed and made custom, hand-crafted dental implants. Even in his retirement he would keep up on the advances and innovations within his field.

Funeral services will begin at 9:00AM on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Madison Memorial Home, Madison, followed by a 10:00AM Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Thomas More RC Church in Morristown. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to celebrate Thomas’ life on Friday from 2-4PM and 7-9PM at the funeral home.
