Obituary of Augustus "Gus" Price
Augustus “Gus” Price, a lifelong Madison resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the age of 86.
Gus leaves behind his two daughters, Linda Dziedzic of Morristown, Karen Miller of West Virginia and her husband Michael; one son, David Price of Virginia and his wife Gina; three sisters, Lorraine Jenwood, Carole Robinson & Gail Fernicola. Gus was also blessed with 5 grandchildren, Shelley, Amy, Morgan, Jamie & Krista; and four great-grandchildren. Gus was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ann Price (nee Marcellis) and his son-in-law, Charles Dziedzic.
Gus was born in Green Village on March 7, 1931 to the late Augustus and Lillian Price. He was raised in Green Village and spent most of his life in Madison. Gus was a parishioner of St. Vincent Martyr RC Church. He served his county honorably in the US Army during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post #43 in Florham Park. He was so proud of his service and of being a veteran. After his military service he began his training and career as a mason. Throughout his career, Gus was employed with several local mason firms and as well performing work for his personal clients. His last position was with Borough of Madison Department of Public Works. His skill and hard work has stood the test of time and is still evident throughout Madison. He retired from the borough in 1998. His greatest joy came from being with his family, friends and hosting parties with his late wife.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a visitation to celebrate Gus’ life held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 from 10:30AM to 12:30PM at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison followed by a 12:30PM funeral service at the funeral home, followed by a military honors ceermony. Gus will be laid to rest at St. Vincent’s Cemetery, Madison privately on Monday due to the current weather conditions.
