Obituary of Antonietta Bernardo
Antonietta Bernardo, a longtime Madison resident, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was 82.
Antonietta was born on April 22, 1936 in Cicciano, Italy to the late Raffaele and Teresa Caiazzo. She lived in Italy until 1973 when she and her husband, the late Vincenzo Bernardo, moved their young family to Madison. She enjoyed cooking for her family, gardening and took great pride in her home. She had a deep appreciation for things of beauty and nature. Antonietta was a custodian at Drew University in Madison for 38 years before retiring.
Antonietta was predeceased by her beloved son, Felice Bernardo. She leaves behind her son, Raffaele Bernardo and his wife, Nancy of Madison; her daughter-in-law, Carmela Bernardo of Madison; her sister, Annunziata of Italy; and her four cherished grandchildren, Antonietta, Vincenzo, Marianna and Vincenzo Raffaele.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30AM on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at St. Vincent Martyr RC Church in Madison. Interment will follow at St. Vincent’s Cemetery, Madison. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a visitation to celebrate Antonietta’s life from 7PM to 9PM on Friday at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison.
