Dear Aunt Ruth,
I met you many years ago when I was a young girl. You and your family became lifelong friends with my family thru Alan and my brother Mike via Drum and bugle. I was thrilled when you and Bere came to my wedding 20 yrs ago. It made my day complete. You took me under your wings after an accident and as a teenager I told myself I would always be grateful to you. You will always be in my heart. Rest in peace with your loved ones in heaven.

The Russells were one of the first families we met when we moved to Madison, from Brooklyn, in 1967. Grandma Russell, who hailed from Barbados, where my mother's father was also from, taught me piano lessons. The Russells and the Newsoms were Caribbean in origin as were we hailing from Barbados and Jamaica. Their family made us feel at home. God Bless Mrs. Russell as she travels on to her REAL home with The Lord, Jesus Christ.
All My Love, Ramona Brockett

My heart goes out to you and your family Karen. I have so many memories of your mom as we were growing up! Her beautiful smile, her laugh and her humor. I loved when she called me “sugar”! Her kindness to me and my family was what I will always remember. May your loving memories keep her close to your heart. Sending love and hugs.

Dear Karen,
May you find comfort knowing that your mother lived a long and extraordinary life.
From a such a humble beginning, Ruthie overcame so much, achieved so much, gave so much and was admired by so many.
When you were born she was overjoyed to have a daughter and made her love for you and Alan evident to everyone throughout her entire life. Hers was a life well lived.
God blessed you!

The Conklin Family has known the Russell Family since 1969. Alan and I marched together in a Drum and Bugle Corps both in Morristown and Newark. We have kept in contact with this great family over the years. We visited Alan and Bere during their difficult days. Aunt Ruthie was great women and mother who would share a laugh on many topics. Through all the family health concerns, Karen has been a solid rock of strength.

Dear Karen, my heart aches over the news of the loss of your mom. Such a sweet, loving, caring, wonderful woman, who lit up my life, as well as many, many others in this town! I will never forget when I was about 10 or so, as her paperboy all those years ago, she'd invite me in for some freshly baked cookies and milk! Whenever I ran into her with your dad in more recent years, we'd always have a good chat, and always some laughs!! She's riding the golden wings to be with our Lord in heaven, joining up with your dad and brother Alan once again. Hope she runs into my parents there too! We shall see them all once again someday. My deepest and sincere condolences over your loss. Love Anthony Mezzacca, Madison, NJ
