Obituary of May Culotta
May Culotta (nee Fischetti), a longtime East Hanover resident, passed away peacefully with her daughter, Shirley, by her side on Thursday, January 10, 2019. She was 100.
May was born in Newark on May 12, 1918 to the late Pasquale and Rose Fischetti. She was raised in Newark and lived there with her cherished family until moving to East Hanover in 1962.
May was a devoted wife and mother, who dedicated her life to her family and making them comfortable. She was well known by family and friends for her strong will and good nature. May attributed her longevity to hard work and a small bit of Hennessey or red wine daily. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
May is predeceased by her husband and best friend of 67 years, Richard Culotta; her dear daughter, Theresa; and several sisters & brothers. She leaves behind 4 children, 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces & nephews.
May’s family would like to offer their sincere gratitude to Compassionate Care Hospice for the dedicated & sincere care they provided May in her final weeks.
Funeral services will begin at 9:00AM on Monday, January 14, 2019 at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison, followed by a 10:00AM Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Vincent Martyr Church, Madison. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a visitation to celebrate May’s life on Sunday from 4PM to 7PM at the funeral home.
