We send our deepest condolences to Pam and her family at this sad time. Don was so well cared for by Pam especially in these past several difficult months. She is an example of the Biblical "valiant woman" ever caring, ever patient.
Don was a deep thinker and a good conversationalist, interested in so many things and eager to share his thoughts. He ranged from love of books to love of sports.
As our liturgy says, "For your faithful, O Lord, life is not taken away but merely changed." 'Til we meet again, Don, rest in peace.

Pam and Family,
We were sorry to learn of Don's passing. He was a terrific colleague in the department of Spanish language arts and literature at West Babylon High School.
Long before personalized learning became popular, Don was experimenting with individualized learning techniques in his classes. His students performed at outstanding levels on the New York State Regents exams and he always took time to share with us techniques and practices that he knew worked best for our students.
He was an excellent athlete and we enjoyed many faculty games together. Most of all, Don was a tall, powerfully built man who treated everyone with the dignity he demanded for himself.
Love,
Bob and Kay Manley

I will always remember the good times we had together as children growing up in Brooklyn, going to Northport and the farm in Wurtsboro, riding motorcycles, fishing, discussing Spanish Literature for our classes, restoring your 1950 Ford truck and my 1936 Ford and working on old cars in Bob's garage. Most of all I will miss you as a true friend.

we have great memories with you guys. when you moved, it was a great lost to us. I I loved when I was at work, extremely busy most of the times, and I would answer the phone and don would be calling to check on us to say hello. my boys always had a special bond with him. he was,in my opinion, the grandfather they just lost as a baby when we moved in to g.river. he had amazing patience with children...especially with my two. I always enjoyed baking or making a soup and he enjoyed when I would send a bowl over to him. we all always had a lot of laughs together as neighbors. what else can I say. he has been through a lot. this was his callin g. we all will meet again one day. god bless you don and thanks for all the great memories you gave us as a family.love doug, Suzanne, doug and derek

I was so saddened when I heard about Mr. Mansfield's passing. Growing up, the Mansfield's house was always open to our group of friends. Whether it was playing football in the winter, volleyball in the summer or the filming of one of our horror movies in the basement, Mr. Mansfield always had a calm presence no matter how crazy our shenanigans got. His sense of humor was second to none and he was an incredibly generous man. He will be missed. My condolences go out to the Mansfield family.

I loved my Uncle Don so much. I will always treasure the memories of the way in which he would interact with me, my sisters and my cousins Johnny, Donny and Alison over the holidays...this stuff is just so hard...you realize just how much you love someone when they are gone, and the pain is proportional. I never knew my grandfather or grandmother, and from Mom I know uncle Don was the Mansfield patriarch and what an example he set for everyone who came to know him. Great job Uncle Don...great job, and until we meet again, Love, Bil
