Obituary of Anne Carbone

Anne Reigle Carbone, 77, of Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania died Monday afternoon, May 27, 2019 at Morristown Memorial Hospital, in Morristown, New Jersey.

Born July 12, 1941in West Chester, Pennsylvania, Anne was the daughter of the late Grant Ellsworth and Sara Rebecca (Scott) Reigle. She was the wife of the late Carl Carbone who died July 12, 2008.
A 1959 graduate of West Chester High School in West Chester, Pennsylvania, Anne went on to attend the University of South Carolina (where she was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority) and graduate from Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina. Anne would remain in South Carolina through the births of both of her children. After spending two years in Tallahassee, Florida, Anne had the opportunity to bring her family ‘home’ to Pennsylvania. Living in Camp Hill for a brief period, Elizabethtown was soon to follow. Anne enjoyed nearly 25 years as a Business Education teacher at Elizabethtown Area High School where she would ultimately have the opportunity to serve as the Subject Area Coordinator and Department Chairperson of the Business Education Department. As retirement came, Elizabethtown would remain home to Anne and Carl as they would soon after move to a residence at the Masonic Village of Elizabethtown allowing them to stay close to their cherished friends and all that had become so important to them in the community.

Anne has been a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Elizabethtown for more than 30 years. She was a member of the Elizabethtown Chapter #407 Order of the Eastern Star. Anne’s many loves included her treasured friendships and all of the enjoyable times shared, red hats, ladies who lunch, her students, when Donecker’s closed – shopping anywhere, a competitive game of cards, the coast of Maine and her time spent there, lobster – anywhere, her travel adventures that took her outside of her comfort zone, Phillies baseball, Penn State Football, frogs, family whiffle ball games and scooter races and ALL of the adventures of her grandchildren. Though retaining her Elizabethtown residence, circumstances allowed Anne to spend the better part of the last three years in New Jersey with her daughter and family.

Anne was devoted to her family and is survived by her two children, Rebecca Hammond (Robert Hammond), of Flanders, NJ and Davis Holland (Kim Holland), of Etters, PA. Anne is also survived by her six grandchildren, Bobby Hammond, Brennan Hammond, Blaine Hammond, Braden Hammond, Haylee Holland, Davis Holland, and her sister, Jane Neely, of Gettysburg, PA. She was preceded in death by her sister, Marion Stepp. She would also want to acknowledge her 2 nieces and 5 nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 8, 2019 at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, PA with Rev. Jack Grove officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg with a reception to follow. Funeral arrangements in NJ were under the direction of the Madison Memorial Home.
