Obituary of Adele "Rita" Allocca
Adele “Rita” Allocca (nee Dalvisi), a longtime Madison resident, went home peacefully to the Lord on Friday, September 6, 2019. She was 82.
Rita was born in Naples, Italy on May 25, 1937 to the late Alberto and Rosamaria Dalvisi. She and her husband, Tommaso Allocca, emigrated to the US in 1971, settling in Madison where they have lived since. Rita had a career at Ohaus Scale Corp. of Florham Park for several years, retiring in 2002.
Rita loved life and had a tremendous sense of humor. She was dedicated to her family and loved a good party and enjoyed dancing. Rita was also an incredible cook and was able to make most of her Italian recipes from memory. She was well-known for her lasagna and especially loved preparing family meals during the holidays.
Rita was a skilled crocheter, knitter and seamstress. She had great patience and possessed the old-world skills that are seldom seen today. Rita also loved taking daily walks and shopping. Her kind hearted spirit, her infectious laugh and warmth will be remembered by all that knew and loved her.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Tommaso Allocca of Madison; her loving daughter, Lina Allocca of Madison; one cherished granddaughter, Ella; two nieces, Lina Dworak & Patty Walters. She is also survived by her sisters, Elvira and Maria, who still reside in Italy as well as nieces, nephews and extended family as well as many dear friends here and abroad. She is predeceased by her brothers Antonio, Pasquale, Raffaele and her sisters, Augusta and Angelina.
Funeral services will begin at 9:00AM on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison, followed by a 10:00AM Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Vincent Martyr Church, Madison. Interment will follow at St. Vincent’s Cemetery, Madison. Family and friends are welcome to gather for a visitation to celebrate Rita’s life on Monday, September 9, 2019 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at the funeral home.
