Obituary of John J. Esposito

John J. “Sha Shone” Esposito, a lifelong Madison resident, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 with his family by his side at the age of 92.

John was born in Madison on February 2, 1927 to the late John and Nancy Esposito. He was a graduate of Madison High School and proudly served in the United States Army during WWII, prior to his honorable discharge. He was the devoted and loving husband of Amelia Esposito (nee Palma) for 65 years, until her passing in March of 2019.

John was employed as the head machine operator with Guerriero Paving of Madison for over 40 years. He loved his work and after his retirement he transitioned into a new career as a crossing guard in Madison. He was stationed at the Kings Road School for many years where the kids loved him and he loved them!

John was a dependable, strong-willed and patriotic man that was always there for support or to lend a hand to family and friends. He loved football, baseball and was an avid fan of the Yankees and Jets. John had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening throughout his life. He was an excellent skier in his younger years and will be remembered for his joy of entertaining family and friends during the holidays.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his loving wife of 65 years, Amelia M. Esposito; his brothers, Dominick, Ralph, Sammy & Anthony “Woke-Up” Esposito; his sister, Louise Iannacone; and his niece, Sharon Bradley. He is survived by one brother, Steve Esposito, a sister-in-law, Rose Esposito of Madison; nieces, Nancy Artiglere and Susan Silver; two nephews, James Jaeger and Dominick Esposito; and several great nieces and nephews and cherished great-great nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a memorial visitation to celebrate John's life from 9:00AM to 10:30AM on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison, followed by a 10:30AM prayer service held at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow at St. Vincent's Cemetery, Madison.
