Obituary of Faye I. Kruger
Faye I. Kruger, a longtime Madison resident, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, March 21, 2020, at the age of 98. Her strong faith provided her great comfort in her final days and moments, as it had throughout her life. She always provided love, affection and companionship to those around her.
Faye was born in Hoboken on December 22, 1921 to the late Matthew and Ida Durante. She was raised in Hoboken and resided in Jersey City for most of her life, prior to moving to Madison over 20 years ago. Faye was a secretary for many years at Jersey City Medical Center. After retiring from her position at the hospital, she kept busy with several other jobs and did not fully retire until age 78.
Faye loved her family and friends dearly. She had a big heart and a close-knit group of friends from the Chateau Thierry Senior Citizen’s building in Madison, where she lived for several years. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, working on sewing projects, making beautiful clothing and reading books. She was known for being a big fan of the Golden Girls and she was “grandmother” to several cats who she had a special place in her heart for and took the utmost care of.
Faye was predeceased by her beloved husband, Walter Kruger in 1971. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Karen Seuberth and her husband, John of Basking Ridge; one sister-in-law, Florence Durante of Paramus; several nieces & nephews; and many good friends at the Chateau Thierry building.
The visitation and funeral service for Faye will be for immediate family only. Private burial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
Charitable contributions may be made in Faye’s memory to the Madison Volunteer Ambulance Corps, 29 Prospect Street, Madison, NJ 07940.
