I only met Marianne twice and was impressed with her determination both times. She called me "Lady" because she did not know me or my name. It was Christmastime, and she generously handed me leaves, one-by-one, that had accumulated on the floor of the car between cleanings. The simplest gestures are the greatest gifts.
Similarly, her brother, Peter, took great pleasure in mailing dozens of Christmas cards to her as she took great pleasure in opening her mail. After his death, our daughter, Tessa continued the practice for a time.
Marianne was a very fortunate child to be born into a loving, caring family that never gave up on her or the pursuit in finding appropriate housing for her further development.
May she rest in peace with her parents, brother Peter, and niece Tessa. I am hoping for a large pile of leaves when we are all together again. I'll bring some Christmas cards.
