Obituary of Palmina R. DeBiasse

Palmina Rose DeBiasse (nee Allocco), of Madison, passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on January 14, 2021 surrounded by her family in the home that she and her husband built on Dean Street.

Born to Antonio and Rose Allocco (nee LoSapio), she grew up on North Street in Madison’s “Little Italy”, and remained a life-long resident of the Rose City. Strong-willed and a survivor, she overcame a childhood battle with polio. As a young woman, she began her career as a seamstress with Maidenform Co. in Newark, NJ.

She married the love of her life, Thomas Lewis DeBiasse Sr., in 1952 and together they built a house and raised a family of three children. In mid-life, she completed her GED and went on to earn her practical nursing license. Palmina worked for many years caring for patients as a private duty nurse. Famous for her hospitality, she most valued time spent with those she loved, and graciously opened her homes on the Jersey shore and Florida coast to family and loved ones alike. She was a devoted member of St. Vincent Martyr’s Parish. Her favorite pastimes give testament to her old-world roots. Palmy’s many talents included sewing, crocheting, gardening, baking, and pickling- for which she had won local awards. Palmina will be most dearly missed for her bright smile, crinkle-nosed laugh, and brassy sensibility.

Palmina is survived by her daughter, Pamela Cucco, and her husband, James; daughter, Janice Piccolo, and her husband Carmen Jr.; and son, Thomas L. Debiasse Jr., and his wife, Debbie. She was the loving “Granny” of Carmen Piccolo III and his wife, Korinne of Florence, South Carolina; Anthony Piccolo and his wife, Melanie of Manalpan, NJ; Jenna Ross and her husband, Derek of Hickory, NC; Elena Husko and her husband, Dan of Ardmore, Pa; Corey DeBiasse of Highlands, NJ; and Thomas DeBiasse III of Madison, NJ. She was also great-grandmother to Colin and Dylan Piccolo; and Thomas and Matthew Piccolo. 

Palmina was predeceased by Thomas, her loving husband of 60 years, and her siblings Pauline Seeds, Anna Allocco, Patricia DiSarno, Mary Flood, and Carmella Buhrman. 

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a Liturgy of Christian Burial held at 11:00AM on Monday, January 18, 2021 at St. Vincent Martyr Church, Madison. For those that wish, you may attend the Funeral Liturgy virtually via livestream by visiting www.svmnj.org at 11:00AM. Interment at St. Vincent’s Cemetery will be held privately for the immediate family following the service.
