Obituary of Phyllis Pisciotto
Philomena “Phyllis” Pisciotto, a longtime Madison resident, died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, February 3, 2021. She was 91.
Phyllis was born in Morristown on August 3, 1929 to the late Phillip and Elizabeth Oropallo, where she was raised with her sister Virginia and brother Michael. She was a graduate of Morristown High School. Ever since a young age, Phyllis and her siblings were instilled with respect and faith by their parents, and they regularly attended church.
After high school, Phyllis entered her career as a secretary and began her first job at Martindale-Hubbell in New Providence, followed by a position after several years at Mepco Inc. in Morristown. Most of Phyllis’ career was spent working at Colgate-Mennen in Morris Township, where she retired at age 75.
Phyllis and her beloved husband, Martin J. Pisciotto, were married on September 18, 1949. The couple settled in Morristown and shortly after, welcomed their daughter Helen into the family. The family had many wonderful years full of cherished memories in Morristown. In their retirement, Phyllis and Martin relocated to North Street in Madison 28 years ago. Martin passed in 2007 and Phyllis moved one street over to South Street.
Phyllis was an incredible mother, wife, sister and friend. She truly would do anything to help others and lived a life devoted to doing good unto others while seeking nothing in return. Phyllis cherished her family and was there for her grandchildren growing up and through adulthood. She was overjoyed with happiness when a great-grandson was welcomed into the family.
Phyllis enjoyed spending quality time with her family. She watched gameshows, loved sports, especially the Yankees, and always stayed up to date on news and current events in the world. Phyllis was fiercely independent up until her last year. She attended weekly mass at St. Vincent’s, drove her own car herself, did her own shopping, and even at 90, was proficient at using her Iphone, the internet and playing games on her phone.
In addition to her parents, Phyllis was predeceased by her beloved husband, Martin J. Pisciotto; her brother, Michael Oropallo; and her sister, Virginia Allocco. She is survived by one loving daughter, Helen Saccamona and her husband Frank; three grandchildren, Frank, Scott & Terry, one great grandchild, Gabriel; and her devoted caregiver, Florence Macaya.
