Obituary of Marjorie A. Trautmann

Marjorie Ann Trautmann was born Nov 26, 1929 in Irvington, NJ to the late Joseph F. and Margaret L. (nee Danmeyer) Beck.

Marjorie grew up in Lock Haven, PA with her sister Lily, “her best friend in the whole world”, attending a one-room schoolhouse and ice skating on the Susquehanna River. Marjorie was a strong woman in mind, body, and spirit. She chose to live her life independently, and did, until she passed peacefully on March 5, 2021.

Raising four daughters and one son both in Huntington Station, NY and Washington Valley (Morris Township), NJ, she retired to Crystal Springs, in Hardyston Township, NJ in 1997 where she enjoyed long daily walks, the stunning vistas of the Hamburg Mountains from her deck, and watching kids swim in the limestone quarry. She was an avid animal lover who was devoted to her pets. Her door and her heart were always open.

As her children grew older and her homemaking duties were not as demanding, she worked at Epstein’s Dept Store, the Presbyterian Church of Morristown pre-school, the Alzheimer’s day care program at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Florham Park,  and as a visiting home health aide in Morris County. Marjorie was a long-standing member of the Washington Valley Community Association, a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Morris Plains, and both a Girl Scout and Cub Scout troop leader.

Marjorie is survived by her beloved sister Lillian M. Blaine (Fred) of Hamburg, NJ, her five children, Deborah Sandford of Madison, NJ, Susan Whitehead (Wayne) of Blairstown, NJ, Robin Anderson (Michael) of Harding Township, NJ, Adrian Trautmann III (Cynthia) of Tallahassee, FL and Marjorie Trautman (Mark) of Crested Butte, CO.

Also surviving Marjorie are her nine beloved and favorite grandchildren: Shadoe Sandford, Hoboken, NJ, Clayton Whitehead, Pottstown, PA, Ivy First, Madison, WI, Holly Whitehead, Waukesha, WI, Emily Anderson, Byram, NJ, Jesserose Anderson, Tampa, FL, Adrian J. Trautmann, Tallahassee, FL, Ariana Trautmann, Charlotte, NC and Katie Trautman, Crested Butte, CO as well as three great-grandchildren, two nieces and three nephews. In addition to her parents, Marjorie is predeceased by her beloved son-in-law, Wayne Sandford.

Funeral Services for Marjorie are being held privately for the family under the direction of Madison Memorial Home.

In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made in Marjorie's memory to St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center, 575 Woodland Ave, Madison, NJ 07940.
