My dear friend Eileen,
I miss you so much already... having a friend like you is such a rarity..I will miss our conversations and your kind and thoughtful ways...I will hold you close and dear to my heart until we meet again.
I still have your 'Blueberry Buckle' recipe and will think of you extra whenever I make it .
To Eileens other friends ... I'm so sorry for your loss as I understand your pain and sorrow.
To Eileens family ... please accept my deepest condolences...prayers being sent for strength during this very difficult time And especially for her children , Douglas and Christine ... please know that your Mom always spoke to me very lovingly about you and was so proud of you both and she absolutely adored her grandbabies Jane and Ryan as I'm sure you know...and you can see it in her eyes in pictures of her with them... prayers going up for all of you.
P.S. I attended Eileen's service virtually and it was beautiful
Sincerely,
Susan Bristow Bond

I used to introduce Eileen to people as my better half, my kids’ other mother. And thank goodness they had her. She was the ying to my yang. She was good at all the fun stuff. Every afternoon outing with her was an adventure. She knew every pond. Every trail. Every playground. Every music class. Every ice cream shop. When they spilled milk, she never got annoyed. When they wanted to sit on the driveway and draw with chalk, she’d sit on the hot black asphalt for hours. She taught them how to slide every last bit of toothpaste out of the tube with a butter knife. She read to the them while they were in the bath. She would look up articles about ginormous sharks and beautiful butterflies and share the images with them on her phone. I watched her. And I learned. I learned to offer a bottle of water to every person who passes through our house. I learned that every now and then you have to remove everything from the fridge and wipe down the shelves. I learned that rye bread from Natale’s is the ultimate treat.
Eileen always used to say to me what’s meant to be, will be. I believe that. And I always believed, from the very start, that Eileen was meant to be a part of my world. It seemed like more than good fortune that her daughter, Christine, happened to live minutes away from my mom down the shore and was able to be our summer weekend babysitter. And it seemed like more than a coincidence when we named our youngest daughter Casey, not knowing it was her mother’s maiden name. I will always be grateful to the universe for gifting Eileen to me. I will keep her forever in my heart, as will the rest of my family, and I vow to take whatever lessons I can from this moment, too. As I know there is still much more to learn from a woman as special as Eileen. I love you.

Eileen took care of my grandchildren for many years. She had such energy, such a twinkle in her eyes. She took the kids everywhere. I always was comforted to know they were in her care. She had hugs and always said a prayer for our family. I can’t believe I won’t see her again. I will miss her and her kind and loving ways My love and deepest sympathy to her family and friends.

Eileen had a spiritual and loving soul. She always took care of anyone in need. She was my grandchildren’s’ nanny for more than seven years, imparting wisdom, taking them on nature trips, teaching them to bake and showering them with hugs and kisses. I will always be grateful for having Eileen in their lives and will cherish her memory.

Growing up in Millburn with the Cunningham family Eileen was a few years older than me. We reconnected this year after I found out she had been visiting my mom at her Nursing Home. Eileen would bring my mom flowers and visit with her and another family friend Chris who was also at the home. Eileen and I had much in common and she helped me through the difficult time after my mom passed away. We had promised to meet for lunch when covid eased. She was a beautiful person. Until we meet again sweet friend I will think of you with a smile. My condolences to her family.
