Obituary of Sean Reidy
Sean Michael Reidy, of Chatham, died peacefully on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at the age of 55.
Sean was born in Buffalo, NY on October 24, 1965 to the late Martin Joseph and Jeanne Marie Reidy (née Devlin). He was raised in Buffalo with his siblings and spent his teenage years in Boston, MA. As a teenager, Sean loved off-road motorcycle racing and idolized the motorcycle stunt performer, Evel Knievel. Sean was a daredevil in his own right and his siblings have great memories of him constructing his own dirt bike ramps and jumping over obstacles for family, friends & spectators.
Throughout his life Sean was focused on physical fitness and strength training, so it was only natural that he entered a career in personal fitness sales. For many years Sean traveled across the country with his brother Gary to places such as Nebraska and Washington state to promote and attract new clients to newly established gym franchises. Sean was friendly and a natural people-person which enabled him to be a successful person in his career. Eventually Sean landed in New Jersey, where he settled and continued his work. Sean was a longtime resident of Summit before moving to Chatham.
Sean was a life-long Buffalo Bills fan and also a fan of mixed martial arts and loved to watch Ultimate Fighting.
Sean loved and cared deeply about his family, friends and others. What made Sean so proud was being a father to Jonathan and Mollie and watching them grow. Having his two children was his greatest accomplishment, he also adored his granddaughter, Aubree.
Sean was a loving, caring and affectionate husband. He was a wonderful man with a big heart. He was the longtime caregiver to his mother-in-law, and took excellent care of her.
Sean will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew him.
In addition to his parents, Sean was predeceased by his son, Jonathan Reidy in 2017; his brother, Raymond Reidy; and his sister, Charlene Reidy. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Nellie Reidy; his daughter, Mollie Reidy; his cherished granddaughter, Aubree; brothers, Gary Reidy and his wife, Judy & Marty Reidy and his wife, Denise; sister, Kathleen Sullivan; sister Colleen Tederous, sister-in-law Denise Reidy; brother-in-law, Joseph Ciccarelle and his wife, Kathy; and several nieces, nephews, extended family & friends.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a memorial visitation on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison, followed by an 11:00AM memorial service held at the funeral home.
Charitable contributions may be made in Sean’s memory to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
