Obituary of Mary C. Mastrobuono
Mary C. Mastrobuono (née Maccario), a lifelong Madison resident, passed away peacefully at Morristown Medical Center on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 after a brief illness. She was 88 and just two days shy of her 89th birthday.
Mary was born in Morristown on June 25, 1932, to the late Fiorantino and Michelina Maccario (née DeAngelis). She grew up in Madison with her nine siblings and was a graduate of Madison High School. Growing up in a close-knit family, Mary always realized the importance of family. She was also a lifelong parishioner of St. Vincent Martyr Church.
Mary married the love of her life, James J. Mastrobuono on September 7, 1952. The couple settled in their hometown of Madison where they raised their family. She was a wonderful mother and her family will always lovingly remember her love of the Christmas season. Mary loved baking and cooking, and in her younger years she enjoyed doing crafts. She also enjoyed playing card games and Pokeno with all her family. Mary adored her grandchildren and great-grandchild.
Mary was a friendly and familiar face at the Stop & Shop in Madison for over 25 years. She was a devoted & dependable team member, working primarily in the produce department for most of her years there.
Although Mary will be deeply missed by all that love and knew her, her family takes comfort in knowing that she is at peace.
In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband of 39 years, James J. Mastrobuono in 1991; her son, Larry Mastrobuono; her siblings, Ted DeMaio and his wife, Eleanor; Sue Bello and her husband James, Carmen Maccario, Lena Mercurio and her husband, Frank, Carmen DeMaio, Donna Goduto, James DeMaio and his wife, Lucy, and Millie Seaberg and her husband, Swede; her in-laws Steve Elias, Rose Ganning and her husband, James, Celestina LoSapio and her husband, Louis, John Mastrobuono, and Neil Mastrobuono. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Chismar and her husband, George; and two sons, James Mastrobuono and Michael Mastrobuono; one sister, Fran Elias, one sister-in-law, Adaria Mastrobuono; cherished grandchildren, John Chismar and his wife, Nicole, Christopher Chismar and his wife, Amanda, Mary Chismar, James Mastrobuono, Jr. and his wife Codie, and one great-grandchild, Nicole Mastrobuono; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a visitation from 4:00PM to 8:00PM on Friday, July 9, 2021 held at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home at 9:00AM on Saturday, July 10, 2021 followed by a 10:00AM Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Vincent Martyr Church, 26 Green Village Road, Madison. For those that wish, you may attend the Funeral Liturgy virtually via livestream by visiting www.svmnj.org. Interment will follow at St. Vincent’s Cemetery, Madison.
