Obituary of Eleanor M. Gutkowski

Eleanor M. Gutkowski (née Feehan), a longtime Florham Park resident, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 5, 2021, at McAuley Hall Health Care Center in Watchung. She recently celebrated her 91st birthday.

Eleanor was born in Union on June 15, 1930, to the late Daniel and Grace Feehan (née Murray). She was raised in Union with her three sisters.

Eleanor married her beloved husband, the late Walter Gutkowski in 1955, and the couple settled in Roselle to raise their family. In 1976, the family moved to Florham Park during the Fourth of July parade, and Eleanor lived there for over 30 years.

Eleanor worked as a sewing instructor for Singer Sewing in Elizabeth, and as a bookkeeper for Elizabethtown Water Company, but her greatest joy was taking care of her family. Eleanor was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who would do anything and everything for her family.

Eleanor was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening and taking walks in the park. She also loved going on family vacations, especially to the beach, Cape May, and Acadia National Park. She was a parishioner of Holy Family Church in Florham Park and was a member of their Rosary Society as well as the Senior Club in Florham Park. Eleanor will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Eleanor was predeceased by her beloved husband of 42 years, Walter Gutkowski; and her sisters Nancy Melahn and Carol Foehner. She is survived by her three devoted daughters, Mary Sahdev and her husband Pradip, Ellen Marconi and her husband Michael, and Kathy Giordano; her sister Peggy Fletcher; seven cherished grandchildren Megan, Brian, James, David, Christine, Carolyn, and Thomas; six treasured great-grandchildren Aiden, Anya, Ava, Eliza, Nathan, and Michael; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Eleanor on Friday, July 9, 2021 at 10:00AM at Holy Family Church, 35 Orchard Road, Florham Park. Interment will follow at St. Vincent’s Cemetery in Madison.
