Obituary of Helen E. McCardle

Helen E. McCardle (née Blair), a longtime resident of Madison, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Garden Terrace Nursing Home. She was 87.

Helen was born in Morristown on May 7, 1934 to the late William and Helen Blair. She was raised in Convent Station with her sister and two brothers, and she graduated from the Academy of St. Elizabeth’s. Helen was a faith-filled woman and lifelong parishioner of St. Vincent Martyr Church in Madison.

Helen was introduced to her husband, the late John V. McCardle and the couple married on November 3, 1956. Helen and John settled in Madison and welcomed two sons into the family. They always treasured their family and were wonderful, loving parents. Helen was so proud to become a grandmother and she loved her grandchildren deeply.

Helen worked in administration at Crum & Forster Insurance in Morristown. In her retirement, Helen was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing on new courses, especially near the family vacation homestead in Hilton Head, SC. She loved the beach and had a deep appreciation for the peace and beauty of the outdoors and nature.

Helen will be deeply missed by her family, but they take comfort in knowing she is at peace.

In addition to her parents, Helen was predeceased by her husband, John V. McCardle in 2011. She is survived by her two beloved sons, John “Jack” McCardle of Madison & Robert “Bob” McCardle and his wife, Sandy of Asbury; two cherished grandchildren, Nicholas & Arianna McCardle; one sister, Mary Ann Pietromonaco; two brothers, John and William Blair; and several loving nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Visitation and funeral services for Helen will be held privately for her family. Interment held at St. Vincent’s Cemetery, Madison.
