I have known Paul since he fell in love with my dear childhood friend, Lia Zanassi...who of course, became Maria Fitzpatrick. They were kind enough to visit my husband, Robert, and I in Eureka Springs, AR where we owned an inn...or more accurately, it owned us. I have enjoyed learning more about Paul's early life and many adventures. It is comforting to me to know what a full life he lived, even if I wish it were longer!

My Beloved Brother Paul
Paul loved life. He loved people. He loved travel and being in the center of things, not for his own grandeur, but because he took delight in the spirit of man and his accomplishments. Judging was not part of his nature; questioning and understanding brought greater value and he highly regarded value in all things. He was truly blessed in finding the “perfect complement” to his life, his spouse Maria. Paul’s life was full, long, and prosperous. He was generous and kind and fun to be with. He will be missed by all his family and those who knew him.
On a final note, Paul loved all things Italian. He convinced me to go half with him investing in a Mynah bird, named Caesar, and of course, guaranteed to talk. It was a great investment because Caesar the Italian bird would be the “talk of Brooklyn.” The only problem was Caesar didn’t like cold weather and quickly “flew the coop” so to speak, and without even a “ciao.” Lessons learned: don’t go into business with one’s brother and don’t believe all birdtalk! - Love Janice Fitzpatrick Edstrom

I had the most incredible conversation with Paul, just one on one, during a trip to Napa. Paul was a wonderful conversationalist, loved to share and tell stories and truly enjoyed the company of women!
Maria welcomed the opportunity for those of us who are single to be with Paul and enjoy his brilliant mind and lifelong experiences.
I will miss Paul’s wonderful sense of humor, his patriotism and his love of family and our darling Maria.

My name is Mary. I am Paul's oldest sister who watched him grow up from a little boy to the man he became I remember him at 5 years old playing in the backyard when he decided he wanted to go out to the front of the house. He climbed the fence to the yard nextdoor, jumped down and landed on a piece of glass. He cut his finger and my father took him to the hospital. Mother was frantic. They put several stitches in his hand and finger and wanted to keep him in the hospital overnight. With no room in the children's ward they put him in the adult men's ward. He cried to come home so bad that my father picked him up immediately and brought him home. On to the next adventure!! Sometime later her ran across the street and got hit by a car. This time a doctor who lived on the block checked him out and he was OK. Much later, he met his wife, Maria, and she made his life complete. I visited Paul and Maria in California many times and I was treated like a Queen (Mary). Paul was very kind, generous and thoughtful as a boy as well as an adult. He will always be with me in my heart. He was truly loved by his family and will be missed. Love You! Your sister, Mary

A tribute to Paul Fitzpatrick
I have known Paul for over 56 years. He was best man at our wedding when I married into the Fitzpatrick family. He was Godfather to our first born. He has always been like a brother and a good friend to me. He has always been an integral part of our family's life. His smile, compassion, sense of humor and advice will be missed. Looking forward to when we meet again.
Your loving sister-in-law, Maureen

In memory of my brother Paul,
Paul and I grew up together. I was 2 1/2 years older than Paul, but we did everything together from sleeping in the same bedroom to wearing each other's clothes, to having the same friends and even signing up for the US Navy. I was more cautious and Paul was more daring. After the US Navy I lived on the East Coast and Paul on the West Coast but this did not stop us from seeing him over the next 45 years. Maureen and I and our children always enjoyed visiting Paul and Maria in California. Our children will always remember the rides in his hot cars. Paul and Maria also spent the Holidays each year on the East Coast. We often traveled together and from time to time met in Las Vegas. It was during our trip to Vegas in March 2021 to celebrate Paul's belated birthday that Paul began not feeling well. His courageous battle ended in December 2021. December 12th was a very sad day for me and our family when Maria called to say he had passed peacefully. My brother Paul will always be my best friend and he will be dearly missed but not forgotten and Maria will always be part of our family. Paul is now with his other siblings, Joan, Thomas and Johnny.

There were many memories I shared with Paul, this one stands out the most. Paul Fitzpatrick, at a charity event for Wounded Warrior, bid and won, “A Day with the Navy Seals for himself and three guests, Paul, Kerry & Conrad. The event took place on June 11, 2017 at a Private Ranch in San Diego, CA. Attending the event were two Navy Seals, two staff and a medic. The event started with the Navy Seals giving us safety instructions, a planned mission, and equipment that included bulletproof vests, automatic AR-15 rifles, and pistols with live ammunition. Our mission was to navigate a course while running and shooting targets along the way until we reached a mock-up of Osama bin Laden with the intent to terminate him at close range with our automatic pistols. We each accomplished the mission successfully.
This was the ultimate man’s event, hearts racing and all pumped up with adrenaline. After the event, the Navy Seals and staff took us to a restaurant for beer’s and commiseration. What a special life experience and memories with friends that will never be forgotten. I love you, Paul.

Dear Maria and Family,
I met Paul several years ago through mutual friends. I quickly admired his quiet strength, wisdom, love of family, friends, sense of humor and life in general. It has been both a pleasure and privilege to have known Paul, however briefly and share the sadness of his passing.

My heart is full of love, head full of memories, eyes full of tears. I will miss Uncle Paul's laugh, guidance, smile and our sports talks.
There was nothing like making him laugh or spending time sharing ideas, thoughts and dreams.
I will forever be grateful for how he and Aunt Maria always went out of their way for family.
Arrivederci,
Anna

Paul was truly a kind, caring, gentle man and an incredibly caring human who would do anything to help. A man highly intelligent and yet so humble. I loved him and will love and remember him like a brother. If there is another world, I hope to see him there!
He has been a loving uncle to my daughters and we will all miss Paul dearly.
With sincere love,
Ferial, Gina, Marjon

Dear Maria and family of Paul,
I had the privilege of knowing Paul and Maria as neighbors and friends for the last 7 years. It was always a pleasure to be in their company. Paul was a gracious and true Renaisance man who enjoyed all things in life. Constantly learning and sharing his insights on so many subjects. He was a gracious man whom everyone who knew him will miss. Rest in Peace my dear Paul.
