Obituary of Frances Giannattasio

Frances Giannattasio (née Agliata), a longtime resident of Whippany, entered into eternal rest  peacefully on Friday, January 7, 2022 at Morristown Medical Center. She was 62.

Frances is survived by her beloved husband, Antonio Giannattasio; her loving mother, Francesca Agliata; one son, Antonio Giannattasio; two daughters, Theresa Giannattasio and Francesca Guddemi & her husband Vincenzo; two brothers, Anthony Agliata and his wife Lisa & Joseph Agliata and his wife Stella; two cherished grandchildren, Leonardo and Viviana; one uncle Peter Agliata; her cousins; Dina, Joseph and his wife Isa; her godchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Frances was predeceased by her father, Giacomo Agliata; and her aunt, Mary Agliata.

Frances was born in Elizabeth on January 31, 1959 to her parents, Giacomo and Francesca Agliata. She was raised in Elizabeth in a loving Italian Catholic family with her two brothers Anthony and Joseph.

After graduating in 1977 from Thomas Edison Vocational High School in Elizabeth, Frances went on to hairdressing and cosmetology school where she established the foundation of her knowledge as a hair stylist and received her degree in cosmetology.  She was extremely talented from the start of her career. Frances had an natural eye for detail, taking great pride in her work.  Early on in her career she earned a loyal following of clients, many of which became dear friends and like extended family to her over the years.

Frances and her husband Antonio were married on June 27, 1982 and settled in Whippany. The couple welcomed two daughters and a son into their family. Frances was a wonderful mother who always wanted the best for her children. She was thrilled to become a Nonna to her two beautiful grandchildren and she loved spending time with them.

Frances was an incredible cook and baker. She loved family events and holidays where she would prepare amazing meals, creating many beautiful and memorable holidays for everyone.

Frances was a fiercely loyal friend and would do anything for her friends and anyone in need. She had a huge heart and always put others before herself. Frances always made sure others felt special and loved. She remembered everyone’s birthday, always sending a card and note letting you know she how much she appreciated you.

To know Frances was to love her. She will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew her, and her love and warmth will live on in the hearts of everyone whose lives she touched.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a visitation to celebrate Frances’ life from 4:00PM to 8:00PM on Thursday, January 13, 2022 held at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison.

Funeral services will begin at the funeral home at 9:00AM on Friday, January 14, 2022, followed by a 10:00AM Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Vincent Martyr Church, 26 Green Village Road, Madison. For those that wish, you may attend the Funeral Mass virtually via livestream by visiting www.svmnj.org. *For the safety of all, we respectfully require that all those attending the visitation and funeral services wear a mask regardless of vaccination status.*

Cremation will be held privately for the family.
