Obituary of Anthony Vitale
Anthony “Tony” Vitale, of Madison, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at the age of 63.
Tony was born in Cicciano, Italy on July 27, 1958 to the late Michele and Anna Vitale. Tony and his family moved to the United States when he was 8 years old, where he quickly learned English and grew up with his cousins in Madison.
Tony returned to Italy after graduating high school, where he served in the military, drove a truck for NATO and acquired a pet monkey. Tony returned the United States again in his 20s, settling in Summit where he raised his three beloved children.
Tony was a friendly and selfless man, always willing to help someone in need. He loved sitting on the bench outside his house, talking to the neighbors who would pass by. He was known to lend a hand with handyman tasks and his ability to fix anything. He was also envied for his perfectly manicured lawn.
Tony was an avid sports fan and decorated his walls with memorabilia for his favorite teams, the Yankees and the Giants. He never missed a Yankees game and proudly displayed his team flags during their seasons. He also loved classic rock music, motorcycles, fishing and seafood, and dogs, especially his beloved dog, Rocky.
Above all, Tony was a devoted father and did anything and everything for his children. He lived his life in honor of his children – generous and open-hearted. His bright spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Tony was pre-deceased by his parents, Michele and Anna Vitale. He is survived by his beloved children, Anna, Michael, and Anthony Vitale; his sister, Nunzia Vitale; his cherished dog, Rocky; the Bernardo family, and many close others.
