Obituary of Filomena Lepore
Filomena Lepore (née Ardolino), a lifelong Madison resident, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 24, 2022. She was 80.
Filomena was born in Naples, Italy on November 30, 1941 to the late Antonio and Speranza (née Esposito) Ardolino. At age 14, Filomena emigrated to the United States, settling in Madison. She gained her American citizenship when she was 18.
Filomena married her beloved husband, the late Albert Lepore, Sr., on May 26, 1962. She was a devout Catholic and a lifelong parishioner of St. Vincent Martyr Church in Madison. Filomena was very family oriented and loved children. She was the babysitter of the family, babysitting for not only her grandchildren, but her nieces and nephews as well. She also loved spending time with her sister Giovanna.
Filomena was and expert in Italian cooking, especially homemade pasta and meatballs. Her family fondly remembers her Sunday dinners as well as her elaborate holiday preparations. She also enjoyed crocheting and watching the Syfy channel.
Filomena was a quiet woman with a big heart, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Filomena was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, Albert Lepore, Sr. in 2003; and her siblings Rosa, Felice, Sebastiano, George, Giovanna, and Giuseppe. She is survived by her devoted children AnnaMarie Albanese (Vito), Giovanni Lepore (Jerrilyn), Anthony Lepore (Theresa), Carmela Covone (Vincenzo), and Albert Lepore, Jr.; her brothers Ralph and Mario Ardolino; her cherished grandchildren Antonio, John Joseph, Anthony, Gianna, Sabrina, Albert, Gerard, and Frankie; her treasured great-grandchildren Haley, Leah, and Aubrey; her brother-in-law Antonio Esposito; her nieces Maria Feeney, Jessie Holman, and Speranza Capano; and many other nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Filomena on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison. All may gather at the funeral home at 9:00AM on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 prior to a Liturgy of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at 10:00AM at St. Vincent Martyr Church, Madison. Interment will follow at St. Vincent’s Cemetery, Madison.
