Obituary of Geraldine G. Matrisciano
Geraldine “Jerry” G. Matrisciano (née Granato), passed away at her home on Friday, August 5, 2022. She was 94.
Jerry was born at the family home in Morristown on May 1, 1928, to the late Angelo and Giusippini Granato. She was raised in a home filled with love with her parents and 12 siblings.
In 1953, Jerry married her beloved husband Joseph Matrisciano, Sr. and the couple moved to Green Village. Joseph was also one of 13 siblings, and with the help of both sides of their respective families they built the house that they would raise their own family in. Geraldine still resided in that home until her passing and prided herself in being one of the oldest residents of Green Village.
Jerry worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for Greenson Paper Company in Morristown but took time off from working to raise her three children. She chose to spend her time doing volunteer work instead and became heavily involved in her children's school in Chatham Township and the library. She also volunteered with the Church of Christ the King in New Vernon, working and cooking for their antique shows. After her children were grown, Jerry went back to work part time as a hostess and party planner for Roy Rogers in Chatham.
Jerry enjoyed gardening and caring for her fig trees, reading, crossword puzzles and cooking. Her main source of joy, however, was always her family. She especially adored her grandchildren and her new great-grandson. Her vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Jerry was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Joseph Matrisciano, Sr.; her son Joseph Matrisciano, Jr.; and 11 of her siblings. She is survived by her beloved children David G. Matrisciano and his wife, Elizabeth, and Bernadette M. Matrisciano; her cherished grandchildren Karé M. Matrisciano-Perez and her husband Michael, and Corey J. Matrisciano and his wife Kristen; her treasured great-grandson Vincenzo J. Matrisciano; one brother, Carmen Granato; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
