Obituary of Alfonse "Al" Figarelli
Alfonse "Al" Figarelli, of Livingston (former longtime Madison resident), died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, August 23, 2022. He was 65.
Al is survived by his wife of 28 years, Lorraine Figarelli (née Mantone); his daughter, Pauline Figarelli; one sister, Patricia Kohler; two brother-in-laws, Paul “Skeeter” Mantone, Jr. & Michael Mantone and his wife Debbie; and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Patsy and Alfonsina Figarelli; and his sister, Virginia Pilarte.
Al was born in Newark on December 12, 1956. He was raised in Newark with his sisters Virginia and Patricia, and after graduating from high school he moved to Parsippany.
Al married his beloved wife and best friend Lorraine Figarelli on May 27, 1994. Al and Lorraine settled in Madison where they raised their daughter Pauline. He was a wonderful husband and father whose family was always paramount in his life.
Al had a big heart and a great sense of humor. He was a devoted friend to many, having many lifelong friendships to this day.
Al had a lifelong career in the automotive dealership industry. He was an auto sales associate with many dealerships throughout northern New Jersey over the past 40 years, most recent and notably Nielsen Dodge of East Hanover.
Al loved carpentry and restoring antique furniture. Many pieces that he built or restored, Al gave to family and friends as gifts. He also loved muscle cars, watching movies and listening to classic rock.
Al was an avid fisherman and he especially loved vacations to the Jersey shore and Myrtle Beach with his family.
Al will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched. His family takes great comfort in knowing he is at peace with the Lord.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a visitation for Al held on Thursday, August 25, 2022 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison.
Funeral services begin at 9AM at the funeral home on Friday, August 26, 2022 prior to a 10:00AM Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Vincent Martyr Church, Madison. Mass may be attended virtually by visiting www.svmnj.org
Interment will follow at St. Vincent’s Cemetery, Madison.
