My sincerest condolences. This hit way to close to home having a classmate who was so loved. Happy go lucky Vito. Always that smile on his face and skip in his step! I wouldn't see him for years, then bump into him and it's like you don't miss a beat with him. Not sure if he ever knew he was such a 'permanent marker' people's lives, as he surely was. God bless you all his family and friends, as we journey on this thing called life with healing. Xoxo Andrea Libretti

Sincere condolences from the Kirby Family to the Luppino Family. Vito was a coach to several and a friend to each of us. His being larger than life makes it that much more difficult to accept that he is gone. Rest in Peace, my friend.

Vito's passing stunned me. My class of '86 classmate and football teammate, Vito was always larger than life in my eyes. He was a great natural leader, and the toughest guy I've ever known (and I mean that in the best way possible.) More recently, I always enjoyed encountering him downtown, or at our reunions. A true Dodger Great. My sincerest condolences to his family.

I am sorry I missed coming tonight. Vito was one of a kind, and challenged me in a positive way at a young age to be the best I could be on and off the baseball field. He and Jodi invited me into their home starting when I was in high school and I always knew I could stop by for some warm conversation. Thank you, Vito.

Vito was my first coach in organized sports. He coached me in wrestling when I was in 1st grade. Til this day I still remember the days when we would do king of the mountain. Our favorite days. What’s crazy is over 20 years later my first year coaching came on a staff with Vito as the head coach. He welcomed me as a former athlete and it’s crazy he was still doing it. I got the opportunity to coach 2 of his boys (Vito and Dom). They were some of the most coachable young men I ever had. That came from their Dad. I’m gonna miss you a lot. Madison sports will miss you a lot.

We are shocked and saddened by the loss of Vito who touched so many lives. We are grateful for the time he spent with our three boys mentoring them. Their favorite memories of Madison HS are of Dodger Football, and Vito’s passion and exceptional coaching had a lot to do with those great memories and championships. Our heart goes out to his dear friends and family, especially Vito, Dominic and Joe. We are keeping all of you in our prayers.

The Waresk Family offers The Lupino Family our sincerest condolences and we are shocked to learn of Vito's passing. Vito was hardcore Madison football and he always made us laugh with all of his unique ways and practical jokes. He was a very big part of DODGER NATION and he will always be remembered for his ability to bridge the current day Madison youth with the history and toughness of old school Madison. He cared very deeply about this town and its youth and he was most passionate on Saturday afternoons at Ted Monica field. Vito will not be forgotten and may he Rest in Peace! XOXO

Beyond heartbreaking. I got to know Vito well as a member of the after work "fraternity" at Florham Park Fitness.
We were literally talking right before he left the gym Wednesday about Madison Football...him coaching against my old coach at Mt. Lakes Doug Wilkins when he was at Bayley Ellard....and he shared a couple great stories about Coach Monica with me. Between sets we often discussed the Cowboys too. I will miss you my friend and am happy our paths crossed in life. Rest in Peace.

Vito- my Brother, my Best Friend. My heart has been ripped out. 45 plus years of memories, jokes, laughs and tears, and I wanted more. My days will never be the same not seeing you. You gave 150% of yourself in everything you did and in everyone you came in contact with. On and off the fields it wasn’t just coaching, it was lessons of life. I put you right along Coaches Tanfield, Chandler, and Monica. You did enough in 54 years for 3 lifetimes- I’m honored you were a part of mine. Your values will live on in your boys, you know I’ll watch over them. Love you Brother. Until we meet again, save me a seat !

It was an absolute pleasure to know Vito.
As a coach, mentor and friend, he cared for all of “his boys”
Madison will forever feel the void of the exceptional man he was. Thanks would never be enough for what he did.
Rest easy.

I graduated with Vito in high school. Vito & I were not tight buddies, but we had a lot of laughs together. Someone I always respected because he didn’t take any bullshit from anyone.!! Vito and Steve Finelli and I had many laughs in Señor Wiley‘s Spanish class in Madison junior school.(Señor Wiley ultimately became my stepfather BTW). The way I saw Vito (from my high school‘s eyes, because that’s when I knew him most) Is a tough strong guy that I always had total respect for. I wish I knew him more personally like some of you.. But what I did come to realize is, that strong tough guy had a heart of gold! I saw it then, and obviously it shined very brightly after we parted ways after high school.
