Marie was born in Brooklyn on October 29, 1934 to the late Salvatore and Frances Miciotta, and was the older sister to Frances “Chickie” and Jo.
Marie was a dedicated Brooklyn Dodgers fan, and later became a NY Mets fan – always rooting for the underdog. She fondly recalled skipping classes on a regular basis to see games at Ebbets Field in Brooklyn.
Marie’s career began at AT&T where she met her beloved husband, Robert. Marie and Rob were married on June 17, 1956 and settled on Long Island, NY. While raising her family, Marie returned to college to complete her Nursing degree.
Marie’s family and faith were paramount in her life. She was a deeply committed mother, grandmother, and friend. Marie made everyone feel special. She inspired others and brought people to God. Marie gave with her whole heart and loved unconditionally which drew people to her for guidance and support.
Marie enjoyed baking and loved sharing her baked goods as gifts, always making that one special plate earmarked for the St. Vincent’s Rectory.
Marie attended St. Vincent’s daily, praying the 8:00 AM Rosary followed by the 8:30 AM Mass and coffee with the ladies.
She had a lifelong devotion to the Blessed Mother and always made time to pray the Rosary. Marie was appointed President of the revitalized St. Vincent’s Rosary Alter Society. Marie and her two sisters always felt close to the Blessed Mother for the years they depended on Her for guidance after the loss of their own mother.
She was the matriarch of her family and extended family, and she loved bringing everyone together for Sunday dinners – “there is always room at the table”.
Marie will be deeply missed by her family and countless friends. She will never be forgotten, and her memory will live on forever in our hearts.
