Obituary of Robert J. Larson
Robert J. Larson, a Morristown resident, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 28, 2024. He was 65.
Robert leaves behind his beloved wife of 40 years, Julie Larson (née Prisco); a son, Robert Larson; a daughter, Lauren Larson; brother, Bruce Larson and his wife, Alice Carter; a cherished grandson, Luca; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Robert was born in New York City on December 6, 1958, to the late John and Lillian Larson (née Gilmore). He was raised in Wayne, New Jersey and graduated from DePaul High School. Robert went on to obtain his undergraduate degree from Montclair State University and his MBA from Rutgers University.
Robert had a long career in the finance industry, first at Crum & Forster for 25 years, then at Allied World Assurance Company for 15 years until his retirement in December, 2020. It was at Crum & Forster where he met his future wife, Julie. The couple married in August, 1984, and settled in Long Valley to raise their family.
Robert adored his family, especially his grandson, Luca, and loved spending time with them as well as his many friends. He liked to play golf and was fortunate to have played in Ireland with his friends this past May. He also enjoyed music, especially Jazz and Billy Joel, he was an accomplished piano player, and an enthusiast of classic cars. Robert loved watching sports, especially the Yankees and the Jets, and played baseball in his youth.
Robert had a big heart and a great sense of humor. He was the ultimate joke teller. Robert lit up a room and was the true rock of his family, who will deeply miss him but take comfort in knowing he is at peace.
